During their stay in Kyrgyzstan travelers should always be their passport with them. Kyrgyz police have the power to travelers who have no passports can be arrested. Accidental tourists are also under the pretext of checking persons by the police on public streets and squares and encouraged to submit their papers and asked purse. Not infrequently has subsequently lacked money.

It also happened that police checkpoints (especially at bus stations and border crossings) under various pretexts in bribes to some considerable amount may be required.
