Hawks

The goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) is a Greifvogelart. The area includes the arctic to subtropical zones. Hawks eat mostly small to medium sized birds and mammals up to a weight of about 1.0 kg. To loot, including poultry, in the vernacular, it is therefore also called "chicken hawk" mentioned.

Hawks are medium sized raptors, the body length of 46-63 cm, the span 89-122 cm. The weight is between 0.52 kg for the smaller males and 2.2 kg for the larger female.

Hawks are in central and northern Europe and in Asia and in North America is home.

The birds prefer mountainous landscapes with vast hardwood forests to be preferred.

Buzzards

The buzzards are medium sized raptors from the family of hawk species. The name consists of the words Buse (cat) and Aar (Eagle) together, means "cat eagle." Presumably, therefore, the name buzzard. The females are usually slightly larger than the males.

Buzzards are little specialized hunters of small mammals (mice) and birds, with few exceptions. On her diet are also earthworms, insects, reptiles and carrion.

With the exception of Australis, they are distributed worldwide. The greatest diversity of species exist in North America.

Falcons

The falcons (Falco) are small to medium-sized raptors with mostly long-tail and pointed wings. The genus of hawks is almost worldwide. Hawks in the wild from 15 to 18 years old.

The natural prey of hawks are depending on the size of small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and larger insects. The feet serve unlike hawks and eagles only for catching and holding the trophy.

The heroes of Russian fairy tales like to transform itself into hawks. In Arab countries, the unusual ownership Falcon still a status symbol.
