At the Osh Bazaar, besides fruits, spices and mountainous plants, handwork such as embroidered felt caps (Kalpaks), felt rugs and chess games with traditional Kyrgyz characters. Scented dishes with specialties such as "Manty" (stuffed pastries) or "Plow" (the national dish prepared from rice, mutton and carrots) invite you to a snack. With a cup of tea from the tea room you can quench your thirst and observe the colorful market.
The Osh Bazaar is the second-largest bazaar in Kyrgyzstan and is one of the sights of Bishkek. Here, life springs from morning till night. There feels the Europeans still a touch of Silk Road Fehling and meets a real mixture of peoples. On the colorful Osh Bazaar, there is a wide range of various goods, there you can still immerse into the atmosphere of the Orient. The Osh Bazaar is a very lively and colorful place. On the huge bazaar in Bishkek there is everything to buy: Spices, fruits, vegetables, clothing, flour and Kyrgyz specialties such as yak and horse meat.
Bishkek is the capital of Kyrgyzstan and is located at an altitude of 700 to 900 m above sea level in the Chui Valley on the northern edge of the Kyrgyz mountains Alatau which belongs to the Tian Shan Mountains. Bishkek is one of the largest cities in Central Asia and the largest city of Kyrgyzstan with more than 915,630 inhabitants. Languages are Kyrgyz and Russian.
You can see here a whole series of architectural features in a typical Soviet style (concert hall philharmonic, government building, museum of history, victory place), as well as modern monuments, which show the traditional Kyrgyz culture (manas monument, monument of independence etc.).
Bishkek is famous for its parks and avenues and is one of the greenest cities of Central Asia. These make the city a place where it is pleasant even in the summer heat.
Cholpon-Ata is a seaside resort on the north bank of the Yssyk-Kul lakes in Kyrgyzstan. The yearly population amounts to about 12,000 inhabitants.
The town contains numerous hotels, sanatoriums and guest houses from the Soviet era, in order to accommodate the numerous summer guests, who during the Sowjetian period enjoyed themselves here in organized mass holidays. Today mostly in small groups or as families spend their holidays.
Because of the relatively warm sea water, the shallow beach and the reliably warm summer weather, Cholpon-Ata enjoys great popularity among tourists from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The view over the lake south to the vast peaks of the Tian Shan Mountains is really very impressive.
Cholpon-Ata is one of the few towns on the Issyk-Kul which have their own boat harbor. In the port are small and large sailing and motor boats as well as jet skiing etc. In winter, the harbor does not freeze. So the boats can stay in the water all year round.
