Before you get to the Kyzyl-Art Pass (4,290 m) one must first through the Taldyk pass. The Kyzyl-Art Pass Ashuu located on the Pamir highway M41 between Sary Tash (Kyrgyzstan) to the north and Markansu (Tajikistan) in the south. In the north, the picturesque Alay Mountains from the Kyzyl-Art Ashuu Pass and in the south part is the Transalai mountain range of the Pamirs. On the southern side of the pass is the high mountain desert valley Markandu.
The route on the pass is relatively steep and rugged. In the autonomous province of Gorno-Badakhshan is the Karakul mountain lake is also known as Black Lake of the Pamirs. The Lake is 3,920 metres above sea level and is one of the highest lakes in the world.
