The Torugart Pass, is 3,752 m high mountain pass in the Tian Shan Mountains. The leading over the pass road on the A365 Kyrgyzstan side and the S212 on the China connects the Kyrgyz territory Naryn in the north to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the south, which belongs to the People's Republic of China.

The Torugart Pass is often closed in winter because of snow and avalanche danger. Near the pass on the Kyrgyz side is in the Aksai Valley is the high mountain lake Chatyr-Kul. City Kashgar is located on the Chinese side about 165 km from the pass. Kashgar is the first major city in the Taklamakan desert. On the Torugart pass was the first time 1881 built a border station between Russia and China.
